About

TecHacks, a student-run hackathon, facilitated by Chitkara University in Punjab, was founded in 2019 by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering with 110 participants and expanded to 350 participants in 2020. TecHacks 3.0, as a hybrid Open-source hackathon, will give participants from various technical backgrounds the opportunity to engage with a wonderful community of hackers while also providing seminars and mentorship from industry leaders.

Mission

Our primary goal is to help solve problems. Modern challenges necessitate modern solutions, and young hackers from colleges and universities have a lot to offer in this arena. They require a platform to encourage them to contribute their talents. We want to provide them a level playing field to compete with other hackers and come up with innovative ideas.

FAQ

What if we are not selected?

Even those teams that are not selected can make their submission to be eligible for sponsored prizes.

Is the event online or offline?

The online phase is from 27th to 30th December 2022. Only a presentation submission is required in this phase for the online teams. The final event is hybrid, participants can join online or offline. The hybrid mode of the hackathon will be held on 6th and 7th January 2023.

Is it an individual event or a team event?

The team size is mandatory to be between 3 to 5 members. If you already have a team, you can register as a team. If you don't have one, you can use the #find-a-team on Discord Server to find individuals/teams on basis of skills and interests and update your team.

What is the registration fee for the event?

The registration fee for the event is ₹0 per participant. We are going to be completely free for all the hackers out there!

When can we start working on the solution?

The inaugural event is on December 27, and you can start working on your solution thereafter. Workshops will be held in the meanwhile.

Will there be an elimination round for the finale?

The elimination round will not be in offline mode, however, in online mode, since we have a large number of teams, there will be a preliminary round to shortlist teams that will present in the final event in online mode.

What happens if I am not selected in the preliminary round?

Do not worry if you are not selected! You can STILL submit your solution and be eligible for our sponsored prizes! However, you may not get one-to-one session with mentors, or a chance to make a pitch to the judges.

How do I reach Chitkara University?

The closest railway station to reach Chitkara University is Chandigarh Railway Station or Rajpura Junction. The nearest airport is the Chandigarh Airport. You can take a cab or an auto from these places. You can also find buses from Chandigarh Sector 43 Bus Stand.

What all arrangements will be made at the venue?

Throughout the event, we will help with food, accomodation or any other requirement on prior request. Participants from other universities, in offline mode, can request to connect to the logistics team to assist with travel and accomodation. Bus facility will be available before and after the event for railway and bus stations.

My query is not listed here. What do I do?
